Pursuing Pointlessness

Many who work in 'the caring professions'
give their reasons for choice of occupation
as having little to do with money.

Given how poorly such work often pays,
the low status of the work,
and how tiring can be, this is to be expected.

One very popular reason among care workers
is 'to make a real difference in one person's life'.
Whilst the pursuit of individual difference
is common enough how often is it achieved?
What happens when it isn't? Do they go around
supporting a highly indifferent 'normality'?

Grief

is often expressed as anger,
but it just as likely
to resemble thwarted love
which finds no place left to find rest in.

1 + 0 = 0

In many places, particularly the internet,
comment seems to be plentiful and free beyond count.
Though the cost must land on somebody.
One cost that is left un-commented on
is that whether people are care more or less
that what they say is logical
and they credit their sources.

When we only live once,
as far as we know,
careless chatter will use up
what we should give higher value.

Narrow People Are Never As Straight As They Seem

Parents are the people who say they offer forgiveness
when their children stray far into the unknown.

More often than not what they offer their offspring
is a more defensive version of what they give each other
-forgiveness-kept-at-a-distance which is to be redeemed
in full on that rainy day that never quite arrives.

Comparative Suffering

When a person ends their life
before their time who suffers most?

The person who was dying
from inside out who completed
the task that nobody willingly accepts
with a clarity that would otherwise be admired?

Or the family and friends
who live on after the event,
but always hoped
that the coldness inside
the person they knew
would not complete
the task it set out to do?

It takes a great humility
to admit you could not walk
that mile with another
and not just because
they would not let you.

When Humility Means Resistance

Any people who are so in love with themselves
as to think they are the centre of the universe
will be very easy to sell things to; they think
that everything in the world was made just for them.

'Normality'

is the worlds most popular mental illness.
Through sheer ubiquity it dwarfs all the other ways
of thinking out how life might be lived that there are.

Creative Capitalism

never stops moving the population of the world with inspiring new products.

Democratic Protest

Vote against all you want,
or rather don't want, to see elected.
But remember that when others
do the same it might leave us
-and sooner rather than later-
all with nobody and nothing
left worth voting for....

Sort Code Sought

Many times I wish I could rest in my best friends head
-so often it seems much more sorted than mine....

No Wolves In The Cosmos

Man finds the likeness of dogs and bears,
and many other creatures, in the stars.
And sometimes he sees the agrarian economy.

But as far as any human eye has seen
the sky at night has no arrangement of lights
that reminds him of wolf packs at play...

How unimaginative of man
to leave wolves unremembered
as their many species decline in the earth
and humans spread, like nuclear waste.

Why can't one apex predator
find in the night skies
the memorial to another
(healthier) leader of the planet?

I Remember Youth Training

very well and not just for how naive I had to be,
for me to accept it without any sign of resistance.
But more for how it was adults controlling us
whilst investing in yesteryear's skills and hierarchies
the better for the adults to kid us we were grown ups
and get the last possible use out of what they knew
would soon be obsolete, whilst leaving the young
unprepared for any real future that would beset them.

Never And Never

Never judge a book
by the movie it is turned into,
and never judge a film
by the book it is sourced from.

Even when different materials share a title
all similarity in content is merely coincidental
and should never be taken at face value.

String Theory

Humans think that life is short,
but it is as long as the strings
on which their hopes are dangled
right in front of them, where they try
to deny their irrationality.

Passivity Revised For Modern Consumption

Before the days of a television in every home
films were 'Life with the boring bits removed',
the edited highlights of a made up life write large
for the screen to keep the masses entertained.
How odd then that as we fast forward to the future
via the internet, what we get presented with is still life,
but with all the grit removed from the issues presented,
the more to help us to accept our singular passivity.

To Have Or Have Not

We live in a world where maturing children
are no more meant to understand their sexuality
than the poor are meant to genuinely aspire to wealth,
In both rules reinforce a deference that is impossible
to sustain and difficult to break. Cover ups are inevitable
and they lead in equal measure to long histories
where the present is built on misreading the past
when small tragedies and collective denial ruled the day.

The Beginning And End Of Sensation

Some days I feel that I am nothing more
than a bundle of hyperactive nerve ends,
which as they fizz conspire to suggest
they are they sum of me, whilst also implying
that I am more than the sum of their parts-
not that they have a label for what this state might be.

They are too busy fizzing,
or damping themselves down,
to be bothered with matters
of clear definition.....

Being Parented

that every child opens
and wishes did not exist.

The Most Generic Advice

always comes from the largest organisations
and it is inevitable that it is the most patronizing,
pat, and dishonest set of words anyone dares devise.

We don't have to be cynical
about International Corporate Values
Corporations will reduce their values for us.

Entropy

destroys everything that is not itself.
It disguises its implacable force
 through a slowness
which bypasses all human awareness.....

Anonymous

recently wrote to this blog, privately,
and said that I would achieve much more
if I refused the credit for what I wrote.

I wondered what an achievement was
when it had no credit, or sense of process,
and no credited author acting behind it?

The Wheel Deal

It is as true of driving as it is for life;
the faster we go the more we miss.
The less we see, the more our speed
and hope of a destination becomes our blinkers.

To travel hopefully should be hope enough.

Stress

is to humans what gravity is within planets
-both are forces that shape life,
and both stop everything being lighter
and more floaty, whilst making entropy
seem like an irresistible force.
